We girls plan and dream a lot about our wedding and partner. When it comes to our wedding dress we’ll have a perfect idea about the color and pattern irrespective of which class (society) or from which country we are from. A beautiful wedding dress is a dream for each one of us. When the wedding is fixed a huge amount is kept aside for the wedding shopping. We have a number of rituals and functions before and after the wedding, and we need to find the perfect dresses for all these functions. But all of us are not capable of shopping as our wish. Our pocket won’t allow us to shop as our wish and dream.

For those who are planning for a budget wedding theknotstory have come with few tips which would be handy for you while doing your wedding shopping.

  • The first thing to do is to have a clear idea of what you are going to wear on the wedding day and other functions. You have options like a nice saree or a  salwar or lehenga choli or a nice gown. Also have a clear idea of the latest trends. This can be done by searching latest weddings, celebrities, fashion shows etc.
  • Never do your wedding shopping in a mall. The beautiful dresses displayed in malls can be way too expensive than any other shops.
  • Always do the wedding shopping in the wholesale textile market nearest to your locality. This will help you save a lot and get good quality material. More than anything you will find varieties of patterns, design and colors from such markets.
  • Approach a good domestic tailor with design in your mind. Explain clearly how you want your dresses to be. Once you give your wedding dress for stitching its better to do frequent visit to the tailor to check the progress. This will help you to know whether the dress is being made as you want and if needed alterations can be made then and there.
  • If you find good options during off season Sale, go ahead and buy it rather than buying the same thing at double the sale price later.
  • Start the wedding shopping earlier and try to finish it at least a month before wedding.
  • If you are not keen on keeping your wedding dress as a sweet memory of the wonderful day, there are rental bridal dress available in market.  I personally do not suggest this.
These are few tips which theknotstory would like to share with the to-be brides out there who are planning for a budget shopping for your wedding. For those who can afford an expensive wedding dress go ahead with your dream wedding dress with all the minute detailing. For any queries please email us to theknotstory@gmail.com

Budget Wedding – Wedding dress for HIM

We start planning about our wedding dress even before the wedding is fixed or even before we find our partner 😉 (I am talking about girls on a majority). We decide this after seeing the brides around us or in movies or as per our imagination of a dream bride\groom. Let us start with the Groom’s dress.
Wedding dress for groom doesn’t mean only costliest dress, but smart & elegant one’s. Weddings are all about elegance, beauty, smart spending and how organized it is. Since we are talking about budget weddings, we at Theknotstory can give you some suggestions based on the research done & experience. While selecting Groom’s dress, go for dresses which are not too much fancy. For example if the function is not too ethnic, shop something like a designer kurti which can be used in future also. Some good options are FabIndia has got some Class Ethnic Kurtas. They are elegant, but not too fancy because of which we can use them in future also. Another idea is to buy cloth and get it stitched. This is a smart investment which can be used after marriage also. Let us take the case of a wedding where we use traditional wear. You can select White kurti. Even a Designer Pyjama kurta can be worn during the wedding, but it needs to be classy and elegant. On the wedding day, if there are multiple functions where different dresses are needed, then the groom can wear Kurti in the beginning for Rituals & Pujas and Pyjama-Kurti later. Shopping for ethnic dresses needs to be done after good research.

Finalizing the perfect wedding dress which fits your budget needs to be purchased carefully. For shopping Wedding dress, Head for a place where you can buy any kind of Wedding dresses or where dresses can be stitched. In every City there is a place/are places where you can buy the perfect wedding dress at an affordable price. If we take example of Delhi, then Karol Bagh, Lajpat Nagar etc are good options for wedding shopping at an affordable budget. Same way, in pune go to Laxmi road; there are good shops which are specialized in wedding dresses. In Chennai, T-nagar is the ultimate shopping spot. Here you get gents & ladies dresses at the best price. Namma Bangalore you got Chickpet. Mumbai there are plenty of places like Natraaj Market, Gandhi Market, bhuleshwar, Mangaldas market etc. Like this every city or town in India, there are places good for shopping wedding dresses. On the other hand, if the option is a three piece suit or a blazer then this need to be shopped brilliantly. One option is to buy from exclusive shops like Raymonds, Louis Philip, Van Heusen etc. These brands have some good party wear blazers, shirts, ties, cufflinks etc. Now these are a bit costly. If the cost need to be kept towards the cheaper side, go for shops like the ones specified above where you get wedding dresses, You can give the measurements and get them stitched. But a suit or blazer from the brands like Raymonds, van Heusen, louis Philip etc can be used in future also for parties or places where you have to wear something formal.
If Groom’s shopping is done keeping on thing in mind, usability in future then you have done the Perfect shopping for Budget Wedding.
Some Important Do’s & Dont’s:
  • Never buy ethnic dress from malls.
  • Buy smartly, if possible shop in advance when there is a Sale. This will be good for suite & blazers. Find places where you get dresses at best prices.
  • Try to shop in multiple days rather than finishing on one day.
  • Don’t buy cheap stuff, buy quality dresses at reasonable prices.

Budget Wedding – Wedding Feast

We believe you Guys would have read our previous blog http://wp.me/p2T1CS-eL on organizing a budget wedding and decor. Lets see how to organize a good wedding feast within our limited budget. In country like India wedding feast is considered as a sole benchmark to judge the whole wedding. If we consider Indian weddings, ceremonies like Haldi, Mehendi, Engagement, Wedding & Reception; each of them are  followed by a feast. If you calculate the cost spent on all these feasts it would definitely be a huge amount (enough for a honeymoon trip to Paris along with shopping! 😛 ) . We are part and parcel of the society and we cannot ignore the rights, rituals & beliefs followed by them. Its our sole responsibility to make our guests happy. We at Theknotstory know some ways to make your society, family, guest as well as your purse happy.
  • For a budget wedding,  keep the wedding feast as simple as possible. The wedding feast is exclusively arranged for the guests. The trick is a delicious feast instead of a 7 course buffet.
  • Image
  • Rather than approaching a catering service who charges you a bomb, Go for an awesome good domestic cook and find people to serve the food. This will save you lot of money.
  • As we said earlier, rather than keeping feasts followed by each ritual you can arrange a single feast after the grant wedding ceremony for the guests arrived.
  • If you want to keep the budget really low then limit number of people for wedding and arrange for a tea party which can be a reception after wedding, which will save you a lot. This is practical when it comes to a court wedding or wedding where budget is low.
  • In case of register marriage and court marriages you can arrange a small post wedding feast/party for the family and close friends.
  • If you have planned for a Buffet, then plan the menu wisely, organize the items properly & assign people to monitor/serve the food to reduce wastage.
  • In any Feast, Menu items should be decided wisely. Wisely in a way that prefer Items made from easily available vegetables, non-vegetables. Do not opt for something costly or something which is not easily available according to the season.

Whatever we wrote above are some of the common ways to reduce cost. They are based on our research, experiences and our ideas. We never said dream weddings are impossible. We got our resources to make any wedding a dream wedding. We have our own ways of doing this. We know how to make an awesome feast at a reasonable cost. Budget Wedding: Wedding venue &Decor

We plan our wedding by watching our pocket size. Most of us have a dream wedding in mind but when it comes to reality we keep our dream aside and opt for budget wedding. For a budget wedding, there are three things that can drastically reduce the cost. 1) Venue 2)Decoration 3) Food.

Let us start with the venue. Finding a venue and finalizing that venue is a bit tedious task. This need to be more organized when the bride and groom are from different city or state . In this case the best way is to decide the venue near either of their house. This can be done with a friendly meetup between the two families where both discuss and finalize the venue. If the bride and the groom are from the same city wedding venue selection is a lot more easier. If your pocket size is “Extra Large” to conduct ‘ a big fat (Indian) wedding, go ahead as it’s a life time event and no need to cut short on anything. But on the other hand if you’re opting for a budget wedding; here are our tips for selecting a good venue.

budget

  • To conduct the wedding ceremony in the bride’s\groom’s house or in a farm house.
  • If you are a spiritual person you can opt for a spiritual wedding by fixing a temple/church/mosque as the wedding venue which would be less expensive than booking a wedding hall.
  • Court marriages, register marriages, Arya samaj weddings etc are some options which are usually opted during a love marriage without the consent of parents or family or couple with special seasons like second marriage or those who do not like crowded wedding etc.
Different kinds of Weddings

Different kinds of Weddings

  • Find a decent and reasonable wedding hall. This is the best option for the middle class family.A normal wedding hall can be converted into your dream wedding venue with innovative ideas and a bit money.

Above whatever we suggested are some tips on making a beautiful wedding hall at lower cost. You can approach a good decor, select a good design which suits your wedding hall/venue. Following this, choose a theme, a color and choose cheaper and smarter options for the decorations.
